We are hiring a Bookkeeping Specialist team member for a long-term remote position, working 25-30 hours per week (5-6 hours per weekday).

This position will be remote with a part-time schedule, with the majority of your work performed between 9:00 am -5:00 pm CT, and must be your first priority in terms of work/employment. You will be unable to work full-time elsewhere and satisfactorily complete the duties required of this position (i.e., it’s not a side hustle).

This role demands availability that aligns with our team’s operational needs, including essential meetings, collaborative projects, and client interactions during business hours. Our work environment values flexibility but also requires a degree of adaptability due to the need for real-time response and active engagement. Fixed availability periods cannot be accommodated in this position.

Responsibilities – Assist a growing portfolio of clients in managing their accounting needs including (but not limited to):

  • Develop agency and a sense of ownership of client accounts
  • Active engagement and involvement and the desire to learn, update, and improve processes
  • Data input of day-to-day accounting operations
  • Reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable support
  • Payroll reconciliation
  • Revenue recognition and point-of-sale data extraction
  • Speaking with clients and answering client accounting procedural questions
  • Calculating and entering month end accruals and adjusting entries
  • Updating the documentation of processes and procedures, as well as quarterly process reviews
  • Communicating with clients in a timely and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High degree of customer service, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to problem-solve. Learning new programs & problem-solving issues is imperative.
  • Proficient with technology; solid knowledge of computer operations and software, including Microsoft Office / 365.
  • Must have (or be willing to obtain) a dedicated secure internet connection.
  • Strong customer service skills – ability to interact with customers through video and audio tools in a way that is professional, friendly, and reassuring.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Must be located in the United States or Canada.
  • Travel to semi-annual in-person Team Retreats. Locations for in-person team meetings will vary.

  • QuickBooks Online
  • Receipt capture software (Ramp, etc.)
  • Teams
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Keeper
  • Gusto

The Perks, Performance, and the Pay:

  • This position starts at an initial 3-month probationary period at $18/hr. There will be an increase in pay after a successful 90-day review, assuming all milestones are met.
  • This position will grow to 25-30 hours/week after the probationary period (5-6 hours per weekday).
  • You will be expected to work primarily between 9:00 am-5:00 pm CT and must generally be available during business hours on a week-to-week basis.
