Position Summary: Data Engineering / Data Analyst Intern
The Data engineering Intern / Data Analyst will support design, development and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure to enable efficient data processing and analytics. Working closely with data engineers and analysts, the intern will help collect, clean, transform and organize data from various sources. The Intern will support the data analytics team in validating data accuracy, gathering business requirements, and building reports for stakeholders. The role offers hands-on experience with cloud platforms, big data technologies, data analysis & reporting, and database management, providing an opportunity to develop essential skills in data engineering / data analytics. The ideal candidate is passionate about data, eager to learn new technologies and has a strong foundation in programming and database concepts.

$25 dollars per hour
Duration
This temporary assignment is for an approximate duration of 10 weeks, beginning on or about May 27 th 2025 and ending on or about August 1 st 2025.
Essential Functions
Data Pipeline Development – Assist in building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines.
Data Integration & Transformation – Support data ingestion from multiple sources and ensure data is clean, structured, and well-organized for analysis.
Database Management – Work with relational and non-relational databases to store and manage large datasets.
Cloud & Big Data Technologies – Learn and assist in utilizing Azure and big data tools (Spark, Databricks).
Collaboration & Documentation – Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and software developers to ensure smooth data workflows. Document processes and best practices.
Data Quality & Performance Optimization – Support data validation, error handling, and performance tuning of queries and data pipelines.
Data Validation - Assist in data validation by performing quality checks, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring data integrity across multiple sources.
Reporting - Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using BI tools (e.g., Power BI).
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Programming skills – Basic proficiency in Python and SQL.
Data Handling – Understanding of normalization and relational database concepts.
ETL & Data warehousing – Knowledge of ETL processes, data transformation and warehouse design.
Understanding of Cloud and Azure ecosystem.
Analytical Thinking – Strong problem solving skills and attention in detail when working with data.
Version control and collaboration – Familiarity with version control tools like GIT.
Data Quality - Understanding of data validation techniques, data integrity checks, and troubleshooting data issues.
Report Development - Hands-on experience or coursework in report building using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
Education
Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information systems or related field.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
Experience
Prior experience or coursework related to database management, data pipelines or cloud computing is a plus.
Hands-on projects in data engineering, analytics or machine learning are beneficial
Prior internship or academic project experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence.
Other Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel and PowerPoint for documentation
Ability to draw architecture / process / system diagrams in an editing tool like Visio, Draw.io
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong organization skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
