Columbia Forest Products, North America’s largest manufacturer of hardwood plywood and hardwood veneer products, seeks a skilled and experienced Enterprise Data Manager with expertise in Microsoft Azure frameworks to join our growing IT team.
As the Enterprise Data Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's data warehouse infrastructure, focusing specifically on the Microsoft Azure platform. Working as a part of the information technology leadership team, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing data integration strategies, ensuring seamless data flow across various systems, and optimizing data storage and retrieval processes.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Build & lead a team focused on data and analytics.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, and IT professionals, to align data, integration, and reporting initiatives with business goals.
Oversee system integration development related to business systems platforms, including internal & third-party resources.
Data Strategy and Governance:
Design, develop, document, and promote an enterprise data strategy and governance procedures and policies.
Microsoft Azure Data Warehouse Management:
Design, develop, and maintain the Microsoft Azure data warehouse environment, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and performance.
Develop and implement efficient data processes and ETL processes to extract data from multiple sources, transform it into a unified format, and load it into the data warehouse.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for data warehouse design and implementation.
Implement and manage data security measures, access controls, and data governance policies within the data warehouse.
System Data Exchange:
Optimize data integration workflows to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness, while minimizing data redundancy and latency.
Monitor and troubleshoot data integration processes to identify and resolve issues, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted data flow.
Design, develop, and implement integration solutions using Microsoft Azure integration services, including Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, and Azure API Management.
Modeling and Reporting:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify key metrics and performance indicators, and design data models that support effective reporting and analysis.
Develop and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, data mappings, and data lineage documentation to ensure data quality and consistency.
Work closely with the business intelligence and analytics teams to design and build dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
Performance Optimization and Monitoring:
Implement performance tuning strategies to optimize query execution, data retrieval, and overall system performance within the enterprise databases and Azure data warehouse.
Monitor system health and proactively identify bottlenecks or performance issues, implementing appropriate solutions to ensure optimal database and data warehouse performance.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in information / operational technology with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven experience with Business Intelligence, System Integration roles, a focus on Microsoft Azure services is a plus.
Strong expertise in designing, implementing, and managing data warehouse solutions.
Proficiency in data integration and ETL tools
Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, data governance, and best practices for data quality and data security.
Experience with data visualization tools (especially Microsoft Power BI)
SQL programming skills and proficiency in scripting languages like Python and R.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
Strong leadership abilities and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
