Role Summary
Renew Home is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join our growing legal team! We're looking for a dynamic and business-minded lawyer to provide sound, practical and actionable legal advice in support of our mission.
This role is remote but candidates must be based on the West Coast, and we have a strong preference for someone based in or near the San Francisco Bay Area. Some domestic travel will be required for this position.
What You Will Do
Primary Focus
Serve as lead counsel in preparing, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements
Support strategic partnerships including with utilities, and transactions that support consumer energy solutions and the company's participation in energy markets
Identify potential legal and business risks in contracts and develop approaches to mitigate them
Generalist Responsibilities
Work dynamically across the traditional in-house portfolio with minimal supervision
Provide legal review and business-focused legal advice across all departments and functions
Address broader strategic issues and matters of first impression
Reporting & Collaboration
Act as a key member of the company's legal team and report to head of Legal
Work closely with department leaders to achieve business objectives, mitigate risks and ensure legal and regulatory compliance
Support commercial, intellectual property, transactional, compliance, and energy regulatory matters
Location & Travel
Remote position, but candidates must be based on the West Coast
Strong preference for candidates based in or near the San Francisco Bay Area
Some domestic travel required
Requirements
JD and Bar Admission: JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in good standing (preferably in California)
Experience: 7+ years of legal practice, including law firm and in-house experience, with 3+ years in a related field (clean energy industry experience is a plus)
