Your Role At Batesville
As a Web Developer, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining custom web applications tailored for the funeral home channel, addressing both B2B needs and consumer-facing functionalities. The Web Developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions, ensuring application performance, security, and quality. Additionally, the role requires optimizing application performance, maintaining documentation, conducting code reviews, and staying up to date with the latest web development trends and technologies. This position requires a background in web development, system architecture, and project management, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions that meet business requirements and ensure system performance.

What You’ll Do
Develop, test, and maintain custom web applications for the funeral home channel, addressing both B2B and consumer-facing functionalities.
Use of ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML) or any applicable technologies to build and enhance web application backends, leveraging modern JavaScript frameworks to create dynamic and responsive front-end user interfaces, and implementing advanced CSS tools to deliver visually appealing and mobile-responsive designs.
Ensure compatibility and accessibility across different devices, browsers, and user conditions, adhering to WCAG and other relevant standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions and ensure thorough testing of applications and resolution of bugs before deployment.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and other team members to provide updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
Build and maintain integrations with third-party APIs and services to support platform features like eCommerce and payment processing.
Optimize application performance, including load times, scalability, and responsiveness.
Ensure all applications are secure, following best practices for data protection and vulnerability mitigation.
Maintain documentation for code, processes, and application functionality, and conduct code reviews.
Stay up to date with the latest web development trends and participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, stand ups, and retrospectives to ensure efficient project delivery.

What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or Computer Programming; and a minimum of 3 years related Web/Software Development experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in Web/Software Development.
Proficiency in ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML), modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js), and advanced CSS tools (e.g., SCSS, Tailwind, or Bootstrap).
Strong understanding of web application performance optimization, security best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members.
Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality, impactful solutions.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Nice To Haves
Experience in the funeral home or professional services sector preferred.
Knowledge of WCAG standards and best practices for accessibility preferred.
