Role Overview
A local renewable Energy Developer is seeking a Development / Sr. Development Engineer to provide risk and economics-based design principles for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. This role involves cross-functional collaboration, managing 3rd party consultants, and optimizing site layouts and performance models.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify site development risks prior to lease execution.
- Manage 3rd party consultants for technical studies (geotechnical, hydrological, environmental, etc.).
- Coordinate with Development, Real Estate, and Transmission teams to optimize projects.
- Develop conceptual layouts and single-line diagrams with performance and capex considerations.
- Oversee project risk timelines, permits, and milestones.
- Support ALTA surveys for Construction in coordination with contractors and land teams.
- Lead engineering activities for high-voltage design and grid interconnection.
- Develop and refine AutoCAD, PVCase, and engineering design standards.
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in solar, storage, or infrastructure design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVCase, ArcGIS, Google Earth or similar tools.
- Experience with PVSyst, NREL SAM, or other solar/storage performance models.
- B.S. in Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of project risks, permitting, and constructability concerns.
- Strong computing, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across various locations.
