About The Role
The Proposal Specialist (RFP) is a critical member of the Program Management team at Torus. This role will impact our mission by identifying, managing, and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from electric utilities, state and federal government agencies, school districts, developers, and commercial and industrial (C&I) facilities. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, finance, operations, marketing, and hardware), you will craft persuasive, high-quality submissions that secure new business and expand our market presence in the clean energy sector. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional writing skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for winning opportunities that advance sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and evaluate RFP opportunities from diverse sources, aligning them with Torus’ strategic goals and capabilities.
Lead the end-to-end proposal development process; including planning, drafting, editing, and submission of responses to RFPs associated with electric utilities, state and federal government agencies, school districts, developers, and industrial and commercial facilities.
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering, finance, operations, marketing, and hardware) to gather technical data, pricing details, and project insights for tailored, persuasive proposals.
Write and refine clear, concise, and compelling content that highlights Torus’ strengths and differentiates us in the competitive clean energy market.
Ensure all proposals meet RFP requirements, deadlines, and quality standards, with meticulous attention to detail.
Maintain an organized database of RFP opportunities, past submissions, and lessons learned to streamline future efforts.
Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform proposal strategies and enhance win rates.
Manage the post-submission activities with the support of our sales and marketing teams, such as responding to client questions or preparing for presentations and negotiations.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, English, Environmental Science, or a related field.
5-7 years of experience in proposal writing, grant writing, or a similar role, preferably in the energy, technology, or sustainability sectors.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into persuasive narratives.
Proven track record of managing complex RFPs or competitive bids with tight deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented mindset to ensure accuracy and compliance in all submissions.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Passion for clean energy and a desire to contribute to sustainable solutions.
Proficiency using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with electric utility and government or public sector RFPs is highly desirable.
Experience using on-line RFP sites, such as, Bidsync, JAGGAER, BidNet, etc.

Location + Travel The role can be remote based in the US. Torus’ headquarters is in South Salt Lake, Utah. Minimal travel is required.
Schedule Full-Time, Salaried
Compensation $80,000-100,000 (Note: We have the flexibility to hire at different levels, which may impact the corresponding pay range.)
