Beacon Specialized Living Virginia is a mission-based business devoted to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in small group residential settings, as well as center and community-based day programs. Beacon Specialized Living also provides clinical behavior supports to individuals with behavioral needs and challenges.
We are looking for a FT Crisis Support Associate ($20.00 - $21.00 per hour depending on experience) for our center and community-based residential program who are flexible in spirit, have a positive attitude, and are capable of supporting people with significant behavioral challenges.
What Can I Expect as a Crisis Support Associate (CSA)?
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Beacon, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges. Your role will be instrumental in helping residents live independently, achieve personal goals, and improve their quality of life.
Daily Responsibilities Include
Crisis Support Provides 11 support and crisis supervision to individuals with high-intensity behaviors in our programs throughout Northern Virginia.
Foster a Safe Environment Create a trust-filled space where individuals feel safe, supported, and respected, ensuring their rights are upheld.
Medication Administration Administer medications as prescribed and ensure the correct dosage is provided.
24/7 Availability Remain awake and accessible in homes requiring round-the-clock care.
Supervise Daily Activities Support individuals with personal care, life skills, and social activities.

Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Valid driver’s license.
A bachelor’s degree in a human service field such as sociology, social work, specialist education, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, or psychology
2 years of experience providing support to people with serious psychiatric or behavioral challenges.
Must be eligible for Positive Behavioral Support Certification within 2 years of hire.
Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who have mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
Preferred
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to physical aggression and infectious disease.
